On Thursday December 31, 2009, the career staff assigned to the Moorefield Fire & Rescue Station in Ashburn, placed the new Engine 623 in service. The new rig is a 2009 Pierce Velocity Custom with some of the best firefighter safety features available. Captain Josh Cooper and his team in the Apparatus Division worked very hard on the new wagon and it shows. Thanks for all of your hard work. Below are some of the features;
• Caterpillar C13 engine rated @ 485 H.P. • Allison Gen IV 4000 EVS-P transmission • Hale Q-Max 1500 GPM • Husky 12 Foam system • 500 Gallon water tank • 50 Gallon foam tank that carries National Foam "Knockdown" Class A Foam • Harrison 10 kW MCR Hydraulic Generator • Engine 623 is equipped with seven foam flow capable discharges • The cab is equipped with a frontal impact protection system • The entire cab is equipped with a Side Roll Protection (SRP) system • TFT Hurricane Remote Control Deck Gun • Full LED lighting system inside and out • Super Chief Siro-Drift mechanical siren • Chicago style painted steel bumper • TFT Blitz Lite which is 1/3 the size of a standard Blitzfire with the same flow • TAK-4 Independent Front Suspension
